DRILL 1 :Juggle kick the ball into the air and control it as it hits the ground using the inside of your foot

In an open training area, start by juggling the ball with your feet.

After 2 or 3 juggle kicks, kick the ball high and control it with the inside of the foot as it hits the ground, taking it away on a different angle.

Try it several times, taking the ball away to the right and then left, using both feet.

For younger or less experienced players, you can throw the ball in the air instead of juggling it to begin with.

This drill is to practice ball control from the air and changing the angle of the ball when you are training by yourself.

DRILL 6 : Juggle kick the ball into the air and control it into a reverse turn using your chest

DRILL 7 : Juggle kick the ball into the air and control it into a back heel turn using your chest

After 2 or 3 juggle kicks, kick the ball high into the air and control it as it comes down, with your chest, enabling you to play the ball directly behind you, using your heel as it hits the ground. Spin and collect the ball, moving away in the opposite direction.

Try it several times, taking the ball away behind you, alternating feet each time.

For younger or less experienced players, you can throw the ball in the air instead of juggling it to begin with.

This drill is to practice ball control in the air and a quick change of direction when you are training by yourself.


DRILL 8 : Juggle kick the ball forward into the air and control it on the bounce using your thigh

In an open training area, start by juggling the ball with your feet.

After 2 or 3 juggle kicks, kick the ball high in the air and forward about 10 metres. Start running to where the ball will land and time your run to meet it on the first bounce. Take control of the ball using your thigh and drop it to your feet to dribble the ball away. Accelerate once you have control of the ball.

This can be a difficult drill to master.

For younger or less experienced players, you can throw the ball into the air instead of juggling it to begin with.

This drill is to practice controlling the ball on the move and focuses on the importance of timing your runs.


DRILL 9 : Juggle kick the ball forward into the air and control it on the bounce using your chest

In an open training area, start by juggling the ball with your feet.

After 2 or 3 juggle kicks, kick the ball high in the air and forward about 10 metres. Start running to where the ball will land and time your run to meet it on the first bounce. Take control of the ball using your chest and drop the ball to your feet to dribble the ball away.
Accelerate once you have control of the ball.

This can be a difficult drill to master.

DRILL 1 :Combine a series of cuts using the insides of your feet in a square

Starting on one corner of the square, dribble the ball around the perimeter of the shape.

Use the inside of the foot to cut the ball back and forth rapidly between your feet. Travel around the perimeter of the square and back again until you reach your starting point.

Be sure to keep a rhythm and to stay up on your toes to improve coordination.

This drill is to practice variety in ball skills through repetition and intensity.

Set Out: In an area approximately 8m x 8m, place 4 markers, 1 on each corner to form a square shape, as shown in the animation and video. You can vary the size of the square depending upon your age and ability.


DRILL 2 : Cut the ball using the inside of your foot then change direction of the ball using the outside in a two box channel

Starting at one end of the channel, cut ball with inside of the foot then, give a quick second touch with the outside of the same foot to quickly change the direction of the ball.

Move through the channel performing this skill once with both feet, in each half of the channel.

Dribble the ball by using the inside and outside of the same foot. Repeat this action in quick succession to the end of the channel and back again.

Now try it again using your weaker foot.

DRILL 17 : Perform a dummy movement as if you were to stop the ball, then accelerate in a two box channel

This is a drill to practice deceiving a defender.

While running with the ball, move your foot over the top of the ball in a dummy movement, as if you were going to stop the ball with the sole of the foot.

Instead, move ball forward quickly using the inside of the foot and accelerate.

Move through the channel performing this dummy to stop skill once with both feet, in each half of the channel. Practice accelerating on the second touch.
